Did you know that a new job has emerged in the facilities management industry over the last few years? The job is Chief Facility Officer.
The Chief Facility Officer is responsible for the planning, construction, renovation, maintenance and repair of an organization’s buildings and facilities. They are also typically responsible for providing the following services to their facilities: utilities, landscaping, janitorial services, trash collection, and recycling services.
This is a significant development in the facilities management industry. If you are a janitorial company, you may be selling your services to the Chief Facility Officer. If you’re a janitor, you will be working with or for a Chief Facility Officer. If you’re interested in a career in the industry, you have a new position to work towards!
It’s obvious to me why this position has emerged. Managing a large facility is difficult and challenging. It takes lot of time and a lot of technical expertise. It makes sense that organizations with big buildings would want someone that is highly trained and compensated to be responsible for all these matters.
